FSSAA Continue Technical Officials’ Training

Story by FSSAA 06/03/2024

The Fiji Secondary Schools’ Athletics Association (FSSAA) continued with their Officials Training last Friday (01/03/2024) and Saturday (02/03/2024) in Lautoka.

The 2-day workshop was again coordinated by FSSAA and facilitated by Athletics Fiji Development Officer Albert Miller Snr and co-facilitated by FSSAA Executive Committee Member Chris Waqa.

An overwhelming 74 teachers turned up for the OTOS Workshop. FSSAA and Athletics Fiji were quite impressed, as was a positive outcome for the program. The 6 zones in the West were represented with a mix of old and young interested officials.

One of the major outcomes anticipated by these trainings is to ensure that the standard of officiating is consistent throughout all zone meets around the country and Fiji Finals and are of international level.

The course delivered; Oceania Technical Officials Certification Scheme (OTOS) is an initiative by Oceania Athletics specific for our regional officials and it is also a recognizable by World Athletics.

FSSAA will continue with their initiative and wrap things up in the North for all the northern divison zones and schools. Dates and venue are yet to be confirmed.

The International Day for Women was also celebrated at the workshop with cake cutting and morning tea.

Expression of Interest to officiate at the Fiji Finals is still open, click below to access online portal.
